SEPTEMBER 4TH MEETING
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MEETING SCHEDULED FOR THE 4TH OF SEPTEMBER HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO THE INCLEMENT WEATHER. OUR NEXT MEETING WILL BE ON THE 2ND OF OCTOBER.
Trip to Cairns
20 members enjoyed a wonderful week in Cairns from the 9th to 16th of August. So many highlights! For many it would have been the visit to The Botanical Ark where Alan and Susan Carle have converted an old cattle station into a tropical rainforest. They have collected seeds from rainforests all over the world. At Rainforest Heart Orchard we tasted some interesting fruits and Davidson Plum Tea which has three times the antioxidents as blueberries. Thank you to Matt Mitchley and Lorraine and Neil Forgie who generously allowed us to visit their lovely homes and gardens. Not to mention all the amazing lunches, morning and afternoon teas! Thank you Ted and Coral for organising such a great trip.
Our last Winter Meeting.
Our August meeting was our last one indoors for a while. John and Ruth Allen were the guest speakers sharing their extensive knowledge of Orchids.
MAY MEETING
Our May meeting was held at the William Street garden of member Barb MacTaggart and her partner Norman Wise. The weather was kind to us and the showers stayed away for the afternoon. Barb has enjoyed using her horticultural and ecology skills to enhance the site with fresh ideas forming an eclectic garden boasting many rooms. It was delightful to see the changes Barb and Norman have made since our last club visit. Thank you Barb and Norman.
APRIL MEETING AT "TRANQUILLITY" AT LOCKSLEY
Our meeting on the 3rd of April was held in the garden of Lorraine and Ted Inwood. They have lived at their beautiful haven for over 20 years. The garden consists of beautiful conifers, deciduous trees, a formal garden and covered walkways. All highlighted with Lorraine’s garden art. Thanks Lorraine and Ted. It was wonderful for the club to visit your lovely garden again.
